Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning Monday morning due to gusty winds and near-zero visibility amid blowing snow as parts of Ontario expect up to 60 centimetres.
As a result, Toronto Police Services (TPS) announced the closures of the Don Valley Parkway and The Gardiner Expressway Monday morning.
“Due to extreme weather and for the safety of drivers, the Toronto police is temporarily closing the DVP and Gardiner,” the agency wrote in a statement on their Twitter account.
Just after 1 p.m. on Monday, police announced that the Gardiner had fully reopened. The Don Valley Parkway had also reopened as of 3 p.m.
The blizzard warning issued by Environment Canada Monday morning has now ended but a winter storm warning is still in effect.
