Amman: The emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, slated to convene in Doha today, is a pivotal milestone in the history of joint Arab action in the wake of the recent Israeli aggression that targeted residential compounds of several leaders of the Hamas movement in the capital, Doha, along with implications that extend beyond a single nation to threaten the entire regional security system, Jordanian analysts and pundits have stressed.
Member of the Jordanian Senate Omar Al Ayasrah stressed that the summit represents a historic test moment that necessitates a transition for Arab states from the realm of traditional rhetoric to the arena of organized action and strategic planning. He pointed out that the Arab world today stands at a decisive crossroads, where Israeli threats intersect with the region’s current geopolitical fluidity.
This reality compels moving beyond formal meetings and routine closing statements toward practical and effective measures. This summit differs from its predecessors, not only in substance but also in the heightened sense of collective Arab alertness to danger, as all capitals, for the first time in decades, feel directly threatened, he highlighted.
He further evinced that the expansionist Israeli project no longer poses a risk solely to Palestine’s borders; it is now extending across the region.
He stressed that Arab nations do not need summits for political courtesies or hollow expressions of solidarity, but rather a summit that produces a clearly defined roadmap, sets precise objectives, outlines the tools and mechanisms, and ensures coordinated action towards global decision-making centres, foremost among them the United States, with the aim of curbing Israeli tyranny, which draws its strength from international silence and Arab division.
