The Trinamool Congress has asked the Supreme Court to take action against the Tripura government officials
The law and order situation in Tripura is getting worse in the run-up to the civic polls despite the orders of the Supreme Court, the Trinamool Congress told the court today in a petition alleging contempt on part of the state government. The party has asked the court to take action against the state officials.
Calling the situation "very serious", senior advocate Jaideep Gupta, representing the Trinamool Congress, said the police are there, "but are not doing anything".
"A journalist has been beaten up. A First Information Report has been registered against the party leader actor Sayoni Ghosh for raising slogans... despite being a victim - she is facing the charge of attempt to murder," Mr Gupta said, producing some photographs for the court.
