Design Qatar’s newest iconic limousines and win QR100,000

Doha: Qatar Tourism in partnership with Mowasalat (Karwa) announced its first contest and invites residents to participate in creating the design for a new fleet of iconic limousines. Part of Service Excellence, the “Iconic Limousine” initiative by Qatar Tourism and Mowasalat (Karwa) introduces fully electric luxury vehicles for the discerning traveller. The competition is part of Qatar Tourism’s efforts to celebrate the country’s cultural identity and heritage, reflected in the tourist experiences offered in destination. Open to residents aged 18 years and above with a valid Qatari identification card (ID), the contest starts today, and artists who are based in the country are encouraged to develop designs which reflect Qatar’s culture and heritage, progressive future, or sustainability and eco-friendly vision.  A panel at Qatar Tourism will shortlist designs, which will then be open to a public vote, as well as evaluation by a jury of notable Qatari personalities.  The jury will select a winning design, which will be used on the luxury electric limousines and carry a prize money of QR 100,000.  The winner of the public vote will be given the people’s choice award and a cash prize of QR 50,000.  To register and learn more about the contest, please visit www.iconiclimousinedesign.qa.  Chairman of Qatar Tourism and, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive H E Akbar Al Baker commented: “We are pleased to announce our Iconic Limousine Design competition, which engages Qatari citizens and residents to participate in the development of tourism products and experiences.  Part of Qatar Tourism’s Service Excellence initiative, the Iconic Limousines will showcase Qatar to the world, helping provide end-to-end service excellence to visitors and reflecting Qatar’s culture and identity in an authentic and innovative manner.” Fahad Saad Al Qahtani, CEO of Mowasalat (Karwa), stated: “As part of our alliance for Service Excellence, we are happy to team up with Qatar Tourism for a project that taps into the creative wealth of the country and shines a light on a greener future of transportation. The result will surely represent Qatar in the most vibrant colours.” The competition is part of Qatar Tourism’s "Service Excellence” program, which works with stakeholders across sectors to enhance the consumer experience at every touchpoint along the visitor journey.  It is part of Qatar Tourism’s strategy to reinvigorate the sector as the country welcomes visitors once again.  The upcoming winter season promises a return to a packed calendar of events, with numerous events and festivals, as well as the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021 which will be held from 30 November to 18 December 2021, with the participation of 16 Arab teams.
