Eric Nelson claims that the court abused its discretion by failing to agree to requests for a change of venue and to sequester the jury.
The attorney for former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who was recently convicted of murdering George Floyd, is asking for a new trial on multiple grounds including jury misconduct. Eric Nelson filed a motion claiming that Hennepin County District Court had abused its discretion by failing to agree to requests for a change of venue and to sequester the jury. A jury found Chauvin guilty on April 20 of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in Floyd’s death.More Related News
