Deputy National Security Adviser Vikram Misri To Be India's Next Foreign Secretary

Vikram Misri, a 1989-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, will succeed incumbent Vinay Kwatra who is likely to be appointed as India's ambassador to the US.

Deputy National Security Adviser Vikram Misri, widely regarded as an expert on China, was today appointed as India's next foreign secretary.

Mr Misri, a 1989-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, will succeed incumbent Vinay Kwatra who is likely to be appointed as India's ambassador to the US.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the name of Mr Misri, the deputy NSA in the National Security Council Secretariat, to the post of foreign secretary with effect from July 15, an official notification said.
