Depression in Bay of Bengal to cross Odisha-WB coast as 'very severe cyclonic storm' on May 26: IMD

A depression in the Bay of Bengal will intensify into a cyclonic storm by Monday. It will make landfall on May 26 as a very severe cyclonic storm, the Indian Meteorological Department said on Sunday.

A depression that formed over east-central Bay of Bengal at 11:30 am on Sunday is expected to intensify into cyclonic storm ‘Yaas’ by Monday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) stated. The depression is 670 kilometres away from Digha in West Bengal. Depression has formed over eastcentral BOB at 1130 IST.Itwould intensify further and cross north Odisha-West Bengal coast betweenParadeep and Sagar Island by 26th evening as a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm.
