The top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee offered praise for former President Donald Trump's strong line against the Chinese-backed social media app TikTok.
"This is not something you would normally hear me say, but Donald Trump was right on TikTok years ago," Warner told The Sidney Morning Herald. "If your country uses Huawei, if your kids are on TikTok … the ability for China to have undue influence is a much greater challenge and a much more immediate threat than any kind of actual, armed conflict." Haris Alic is a politics reporter for Fox News Digital covering Congress.
Trump, who seems likely to mount another presidential bid in 2024, spoke out against TikTok during his tenure in the White House. The former president issued an executive order in August 2020 banning the app from online stores within the U.S. unless TikTok ended its relationship with its Chinese parent company, ByteDance.
