Delhi Police files FIR against Instagram accounts for promoting enmity between religions

An FIR has been filed in Delhi against a number of social media users for allegedly promoting enmity between different religions through Instagram posts.

Delhi Police Special Cell has registered an FIR against a number of Instagram accounts for posting derogatory content on the social media platform. The case was lodged on the basis of a complaint by one Manjeet Singh Chugh. In his statement to the police, the complainant alleged that these Instagram accounts were being used to post derogatory content about heads of various religions. He also said in the complaint that the Instagram accounts in question were promoting enmity between different religious groups. The complainant described the content as "vulgar, abusive and objectionable" against "various religions. The Instagram accounts have since been blocked and further investigation into the matter is underway.
