Delhi HC seeks stand of Centre, Facebook and WhatsApp on plea against new privacy policy

The Delhi High Court sought the response of the Centre, Facebook and WhatsApp on May 17 on a plea challenging the new privacy policy of the messaging application. A Bench of Chief Justice D.N. Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh issued notices to the Central government and the two social media platforms, seeking their stand on the petition filed by a lawyer who has claimed that WhatsApp’s new policy, which came into effect from May 15, violates users’ right to privacy under the Constitution. Although students from Tamil Nadu remain the leading recipients of educational loans across India, there has been a significant decline in the number of active loans they hold. The number of active education loan accounts decreased from 27.4 lakh accounts to about 20.1 lakh in the period. The fall can be mostly attributed to the fall in Tamil Nadu’s numbers.
