Sentenced to two years in prison for assaulting an AIIMS security staffer, AAP MLA Somnath Bharti has been granted relief by the Delhi High Court.
AAP MLA Somnath Bharti has been granted relief by the Delhi High Court. Sitting MLA from Malviya Nagar, Bharti was convicted and sentenced to two years in jail for assaulting an AIIMS security staff. A bench of the Delhi HC on Wednesday issued a stay on the conviction and sentencing of Somnath Bharti. Justice Suresh Kait of the high court also granted bail to Somnath Bharti a day after he was arrested by the Delhi Police after the verdict by a trial court. The trial court in Delhi had found Somnath Bharti guilty of forcibly entering the premises of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi in 2016. Bharti was also convicted of assaulting an AIIMS security personnel.More Related News
