Delaware State Police arrested Reed Messer, a former middle school teacher, on several counts of rape and sexual abuse of a child for an alleged incident in 2014.
The State Police Criminal Investigations Unit received a report from the Delaware Division of Family Services on Dec. 23, 2022, alleging Messer, a former teacher at Stanton Middle School in Wilmington, had a sexual relationship with a student nearly nine years prior. Investigators learned that the alleged relationship started in October 2014, and lasted for about two months, police said.
