DC-area climate protesters shut down Maryland highway; 14 arrested

Washington, D.C., area climate activists blocked the entire inner loop of a Maryland interstate on the Fourth of July, calling on President Biden to declare a national climate emergency.

Maryland State Police’s Rockville Barrack troopers responded to the beltway and gave dispersal orders, instructing the crowd to move to the shoulder. Those who did not comply were subject to arrest, police said.
Police said 13 protesters were taken into custody on various charges, including resisting arrest, disturbing peace/hinder passage, and failure to obey a reasonable/lawful order, FOX 4 DC reported.
