David McCullough, winner of Pulitzer Prizes and Presidential Medal of Freedom, died at age 89 at his home in Massachusetts following an over five decade career writing American history.

McCullough was awarded Pulitzer Prizes for two presidential biographies.
"Truman," was published in 1992 and topped The New York Times’ bestseller list for 43 weeks. "John Adams," published in 2001, ranked number one in the first week and has going through dozens of more printings, according to the newspaper.
