
Daniel Craig says James Bond shouldn’t be a woman, hopes for a similar, female-led action franchise instead

Daniel Craig said that he doesn’t think there should be a female James Bond iteration, but hopes instead to see a woman lead her own, similar franchise.
"Why should a woman play James Bond when there should be a part just as good as James Bond, but for a woman?" he told Radio Times in a recent interview.
The actor’s comments echo those made by producer Barbara Broccoli in an interview with Variety from last year. In response to a question about whether or not a person of color could play Bond, she noted that was certainly possible. However, changing the character's sex might be more difficult.
