CRA and RIPE NCC organise IPv6 workshop to enhance Qatar’s readiness for digital future

Doha, Qatar: The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), in collaboration with Réseaux IP Européens Network Coordination Centre(RIPE NCC), organised a specialised training workshop on Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) from October 6 to 8, 2025.

The initiative aimed to strengthen national capabilities in managing Internet resources within the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector.

Held over three days, the workshop witnessed broad participation from representatives of public and private entities, telecom Service Providers, academic institutions, and other stakeholders. The workshop featured a foundational training on the first day, introducing IPv6, its strategic importance, and deployment planning strategies. The second and third days focused on advanced technical training, covering network infrastructure, configuration, deployment, cable routing, and network security. The program aimed at supporting participants in ensuring a smooth transition to IPv6 and included practical applications to prepare for the next implementation phase.

The workshop forms part of the ongoing collaboration and joint capacity-building activities between CRA and RIPE NCC, advancing their shared vision to promote secure, inclusive, and resilient Internet infrastructure in Qatar and the region. It aligns with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) action lines, reaffirming both entities’ commitment to supporting meaningful connectivity and digital transformation.

Director of Technical Affairs at CRA Ali Al-Suwaidi stated: “As part of the national strategy for IPv6 implementation, we remain committed to working closely with our regional and international partners to equip national talents with the knowledge and expertise needed to advance the country’s digital infrastructure. The transition to IPv6 marks a pivotal milestone in building a robust and resilient national network that meets growing future demands, in line with CRA’s strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030.”
