Cowboys ‘firmly in play’ for Brian Flores after Matt Eberflus’ defensive disaster
NY Post
Brian Flores could be on the move.
According to Pro Football Talk, the Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator — whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season — will have plenty of potential suitors, and the Cowboys will be “firmly in play” to hire Flores if they fire Matt Eberflus as expected.
The Vikings are trying to extend Flores, but if he got another head coaching opportunity, he would be free to leave.
But that wouldn’t be the case if he was still under contract with Minnesota and another team wanted to hire him as defensive coordinator.
Eberflus, according to the site, is set to be canned after a rough season back in Dallas — a year that began with the trade of Micah Parsons to Green Bay.
Whether Dallas owner Jerry Jones would pay Flores would be another issue, as the site noted that ex-Jets head coach Rex Ryan said last year that he would have gotten the defensive coordinator job rather than Mike Zimmer under then-head coach Mike McCarthy if Jones had been willing to pay, but Jones, Ryan said, “couldn’t pony up the money.”

SAN DIEGO — As you may have seen elsewhere in this newspaper (and also if you haven’t deleted me yet from your social media), I have a book coming out Tuesday called “The Bosses of The Bronx.” Much of it details the 37 years’ worth of antics, winning, losing, winning again and overall mania of George Steinbrenner’s time with the Yankees.

Cade Cunningham, almost inarguably the best player in the East this season, is likely out for the remainder of the regular season. That’s the word out of Detroit following the depressing news that Cunningham punctured a lung when he took a knee to his side Tuesday from Washington’s Tre Johnson while chasing a loose ball.
