The Quebec government wants to provide rapid tests to schools across Quebec in the coming weeks. So far, about 50 schools in and around Montreal have received the testing kits.
Health Minister Christian Dubé has acknowledged the rollout was off to a rocky start. School administrators have also expressed concern.
Kathleen Legault, president of the Association montréalaise des directions d'établissement scolaire, said training videos had been received on Friday but they were aimed at medical professionals, not teachers.
She is also worried rapid tests are too time consuming for teachers, with about 15 minutes needed to administer one, and another 15 to 20 minutes needed for preparation and to verify parental consent forms.
