With the city’s resources trained towards tackling COVID-19, the mental health of children, including adolescents, has largely been ignored. With children once again confined to their homes, mental health experts, doctors and paediatricians as well as child rights activists have raised concerns over the increasing number of parents approaching them for help in dealing with their children’s behavioural problems. The draft policy for “Responsible Digital Use Among Students”, released on Monday by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, has recommended that parents set structured routines with clear screen-time rules and prioritise privacy, safety, and open conversation with children on digital well-being.
