
Congressional gridlock could cause US to run out of visas for Afghan allies

The SIV visa program for Afghan allies who helped U.S. troops during America's 20-year war in the country is in danger of running out of slots as soon as this summer.
A group of 15 bipartisan Senators led by Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., is now looking to save the program, writing a letter to Senate leadership Thursday urging lawmakers to honor promises made to Afghan allies still stuck in the country.
