Congress members blast UK for 'harassment' of Christians in rare rebuke of close US ally

Rep. Chip Roy and seven other members of Congress are urging the Biden administration's ambassador for religious freedom to turn his attention to mistreatment of Christians in the U.K.
"The U.K. is now on an unsettling path that could potentially result in existential threats to freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and even freedom of thought," read Roy's letter to Ambassador Rashad Hussain, which was cosigned by GOP Reps. Jeff Duncan of South Carolina, Mary Miller of Illinois, Randy Weber of Texas, Andrew Clyde of Georgia, Ben Cline of Virginia, Andy Ogles of Tennessee and Glenn Grothman of Wisconsin. Roy noted that at least five municipalities in the U.K. have approved "Public Spaces Protection Orders" (PSPOs) that allow Christians and others who express their pro-life religious beliefs to be prosecuted if they breach "buffer zones" around abortion clinics roughly the size of a football stadium.
