Comedian says ‘no chance in hell’ her career would take off in native India, praises America for her 'destiny'
Fox News
Comedian Zarna Garg shares how America gave her the freedom to be heard and how that journey led to a special, international tour, and bestselling memoir.
"I remember getting off that stage and thinking, is it possible that this is my thing?" Kayla Bailey is an associate editor for the Flash & Culture team on Fox News Digital.
For the Indian-born comedian, America didn’t just offer opportunity — it offered a voice. After fleeing an arranged marriage at 14 years old and immigrating to the U.S., Garg says she found something here she never had back home: the freedom to be heard, and to joke. She frequently writes about comedy, government policy, the global economy, and other political subjects for Fox News.
"My whole life, I did what in India is called talking back to your parents, where you're like, 'oh, you think you're a smart ass?' So, that was my life," Garg recalled. Kayla began her career at Fox Digital as a college associate and later went on to become a full-time employee in May 2022. Kayla graduated from SUNY Brockport in 2022 with a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Journalism and Broadcasting. Story tips and ideas can be sent to kayla.bailey@FOX.com.
