City officials to give update on Calgary water main break
CBC
Mayor Jeromy Farkas, along with City of Calgary officials, will provide an update at 1 p.m. Saturday on the work to repair the ruptured Bearspaw south feeder main.
Farkas posted on social media that water use was above sustainable levels on Friday — the sixth straight day in the "red zone." Calgarians have been asked to reduce their water usage by taking shorter showers, reducing flushes and running fewer loads of laundry and dishes.
The city has begun to slowly refill their pipe with water, as part of a multi-day process to restore the feeder main to service. Once filled, the water in the pipe will need to be tested and the water pressure stabilized.
The city has said road work to repave the broken stretch of 16th Avenue is likely to start this weekend, and the road could reopen by midweek.
