Chris Drury’s dream coach presents a Rangers quandary
NY Post
The would-be front-runner for the Rangers head coaching job is no longer a hypothetical.
Indeed, Mike Sullivan is officially available at the same time as a vacancy behind the Blueshirts bench in president and general manager Chris Drury’s presumed dream scenario, after the veteran coach “parted ways” with the organization he served ferociously and loyally for the past decade, the Pittsburgh Penguins.
It is widely known that Drury has wanted Sullivan, an assistant coach with the Rangers during Drury’s final two years as a player and a fellow Boston University alum, to lead his team since he relieved David Quinn of his head coaching duties in May 2018.
The stars have finally aligned for the recently extended Rangers honcho.

Suddenly, someone had hit a rewind button and everyone had been transported back seven months. It was early spring instead of late fall, it was broiling hot outside the arena walls and not freezing cold. Everyone was back at TD Garden. There were 19,156 frenzied fans on their feet begging for blood, poised for the kill.
