"Mrs. Doubtfire" director Chris Columbus has confirmed the existence of an R-rated version of the beloved 1993 family film -- but he has no plans to release it.
The comedy-drama starred the late Robin Williams as a struggling actor who disguises himself as a female housekeeper to spend time with his children after he loses custody in a bitter divorce. Columbus admitted to shooting alternative scenes, after a viral tweet from the Film Facts twitter account suggested Williams had such a talent for improvisation that there were unused "PG, PG-13, R, and NC-17 cuts of the film."
