Emergency crews were called to the area of Marlyn Way N.E. and the 200 block of Marlyn Place N.E. in the community of Marlborough around 5:30 p.m.
Randy Sedore says he was travelling west on Marlyn Way when he witnessed the child toboggan down a hill on the side of the road and crash into a SUV.
Police confirmed in a Wednesday news release that the child, a six-year-old boy, slid into the passenger side of the westbound SUV as it was driving, knocking the boy off the sled and into the road.
Sedore says he rushed out of his vehicle to go help the injured boy, who collided head-first with the side of the vehicle. It's not known if he was wearing a helmet.
"I took my (mitts) off and held his head and just comforted him," he said.
Sedore said the boy appeared to be unconscious and was in rough shape.
