In June, the province announced its $10-a-day child-care program will expand through a partnership with the federal government. At the time, the province said, $10-a-day child care spaces would grow from around 6,500 in the province to 12,500.
Applications for those spaces were reviewed on a rolling bases and were accepted until mid-August.
Those in the industry called the expansion "life-changing," but said the biggest hurdles are recruitment and retention.
Sharon Gregson told CTV News Vancouver in June she would like to see a wage grid developed for those working in the field. She said pensions and benefits will also help attract workers.
