The cybercrime wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested a man for allegedly running an online betting network. The arrest was made after a resident of Chennai filed a police complaint claiming that he had been duped of Rs 87 lakh in gambling.
According to a report published in the Indian Express (IE), the accused, identified as Harikrishnan, was allegedly involved in cheating people. The accused reportedly cheated people through online betting, including cricket and football matches and promised them huge returns. Police have seized a car, cash worth Rs 24.68 lakhs, gold, silver, cellphones and a laptop from his possession.
