Chandigarh: Administration's cracker ban go up in flames during Dussehra effigy burning

On the occasion of Dussehra, effigies were burnt with firecrackers in Chandigarh despite a ban imposed by the UT administration on the sale and use of crackers.
Despite the imposition of a cracker ban, several effigies of Ravana were burnt and firecrackers were burst on the occasion of Dussehra in Chandigarh. Not giving two hoots to the administration's ban on the sale and use of crackers, many Ramleela committees in the city burnt the effigies during the celebrations of Dussehra in the city.
According to a report published in the Hindustan Times, the use of firecrackers was reported from areas such as Sector 34, 28 and Maloya during various events. Residents were also involved in bursting the firecrackers in the streets throughout the city, the reports stated.
