CBI officials have registered four separate cases against several provident fund employees posted at the Regional Office in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur on corruption charges.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered four separate cases against several officials of Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) posted at the Regional Office in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur and others on corruption charges.
The CBI conducted searches at the 40 residential and office premises of the accused located in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur, Ongole, Chirala, Vijayawada and Guntupally. Several allegedly incriminating documents and articles were seized by the CBI during these searches.
According to the federal probe agency, it was alleged that accused public servants in collusion with private consultants and others were involved in receiving illegal gratification and undue advantage for showing favour in the official work of EPFO.
“It was further alleged that the undue advantage in the form of money was obtained through different mobile payment applications such as Paytm, PhonePe and Google Pay. It was also alleged that these payments were other than legal remuneration or bonafide fees applicable for any services or claims of EPFO or the dues to be paid to the employee by the Government,” said CBI Spokesperson RC Joshi.
