Global News
Russian President Vladimir Putin launched an invasion of Ukraine -- a sovereign democracy -- early on Thursday which has prompted Western leaders to lay "severe" sanctions.
The federal government will match donations individuals make to the Canadian Red Cross to help bring humanitarian relief to Ukraine, according to The Canadian Press.
The campaign, which will begin Friday and run until March 18, will see the government match donations by Canadians dollar for dollar to a maximum of $10 million.
More to come.
