Canada's Liam Brearley wins snowboard slopestyle world title in Switzerland

Canada's Liam Brearley won the men's title in the snowboard slopestyle competition at the FIS snowboard world championships in Silvaplana, Switzerland, on Friday.
The 22-year-old snowboarder from Gravenhurst, Ont., scored 90.15 points in his second run to claim the gold medal.
Defending Olympic champion Su Yiming of China (85.07) took silver while American Oliver Martin (78.98) rounded out the podium in bronze-medal position.
"I'm super stoked on this podium, everyone was killing it," Brearley told reporters after the competition. "It's such a high-level event and I'm glad to be a part of it."

Cam Spalding of Havelock, Ont., finished sixth (72.06) while Regina's Mark McMorris and Quebec City's Francis Jobin did not qualify for the final.
"There's a lot of competition between the Canadians at the moment and we're in a really good spot," Brearley said. "I'm really stoked on the result and it puts me in a good spot for next year, so I'm looking forward to it."

On the women's side, reigning Olympic champ Zoi Sadowski-Synnott (90.15) won a third consecutive title.
The New Zealander was joined on the podium by silver medallists Kokomo Murase (87.02) and bronze medallist Reira Iwabuchi, both of Japan.
Canada's Laurie Blouin (46.04) finished 10th in the final.
