Doha, Qatar: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani chaired the regular meeting held by the Cabinet on Wednesday morning at its headquarters in the Amiri Diwan.
After the meeting, Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs HE Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi stated the following:
At the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet welcomed the Doha Framework Agreement for Peace between the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the Congo River Alliance (March 23 Movement), which was signed on Nov. 15 in Doha as part of the efforts of the State of Qatar and its partners to consolidate peace and stability in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, and in line with Qatar's steadfast approach of adopting preventive diplomacy and constructive dialogue as a strategic option for resolving conflicts.
The Cabinet expressed its hope that both parties will implement the provisions of their framework agreement and the subsequent steps leading to a comprehensive peace agreement.
Afterwards, the Cabinet considered the topics on its agenda and approved the draft decision of the Minister of Commerce and Industry regarding the classification of companies. This draft decision, prepared by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, stems from the Ministry's keenness to keep the legislation it implements aligned with the rapid developments in the business environment and corporate governance, and in line with its strategy aimed at enhancing economic growth, encouraging companies to continuously develop, and increasing their competitiveness. The draft decision aims to help regulate the business sector in the country, achieve transparency, and strengthen the efficiency of national companies registered with the relevant authorities through classifying them according to size (micro, small, medium, large) based on clear and well-defined criteria.
