
Buttermilk, pith hats distributed to traffic police personnel

Greater Chennai Police Commissioner launches buttermilk distribution to help traffic police beat summer heat, costing ₹37.56 lakh in total.
Greater Chennai Police (GCP) Commissioner A. Arun on Friday launched the distribution of buttermilk and pith hats to traffic police personnel.
Launching the annual programme near the War Memorial on Kamarajar Salai, he said the scheme would be implemented from March to June to help police personnel beat the summer heat. About ₹30,000 is being spent per day to procure 4,864 buttermilk packets (each packet costing ₹6.33). In total, ₹37.56 lakh would be spent for the distribution of buttermilk to police personnel, both in the morning and evening hours.
Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic, R. Sudhakar, Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic (South), Bandi Gangadhar and other officers were present on the occasion.
