Something which became a point of discussion on social media after the presentation of Budget 2022, was the finance minister announcing an increase in the import duty on umbrellas to 20 per cent.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday presented the Union Budget 2022. Everyone was glued to their screens in anticipation of what Budget 2022 had in store for them. While Nirmala Sitharaman did not announce any changes in tax slabs for the income tax, people owning digital assets were in for a shocker. She proposed a 30 per cent tax on income from transactions in "virtual digital assets" and also announced a 1 per cent TDS on payment made in relation to the transfer of a digital asset. Also, something which became a point of discussion on social media was the FM increasing the import duty on umbrellas to 20 per cent.
