BRS, BJP conspired to stall TG’s development: Revanth
Continuing his tirade against the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and the Bharatiya Janata Party, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has alleged that the two Opposition parties have conspired to stall the developmental works undertaken by the Congress Government since it took over the reins.
Government has kept its promises of crop loan waiver to 22.5 lakh farmers, credited ₹7,625 crore under Rythu Bharosa soon after assuming charge, and introduced free bus travel to women and other welfare programmes. “Women should teach a fitting lesson to the BRS and the BJP if they try to approach them,” he said.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a public meeting in Wanaparthy after laying foundation stones for developmental works on Sunday. Mr. Reddy recalled his association with Wanaparthy asserting that it played a crucial role in his development as a political leader.
He criticised the previous government headed by BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao for diluting the self-help groups and not providing them with interest-free loans. “We have distributed loans worth ₹1,000 crore to SHGs today. BRS and BJP are creating obstacles in our plans to make SHG women millionaires,” he alleged.
He recalled how the government had taken the initiative to allot space for 150 stalls for SHGs to sell their products in the upmarket Hi-Tec City area. “Did anyone imagine the government allotting three acres of land to SHGs alongside globally reputed IT companies?” he asked, adding that the government had encouraged SHG women to generate solar power and enabled them to purchase 1,000 buses that had been leased out to the TGSRTC. In addition, steps were taken to entrust the responsibility of stitching uniforms for students of government schools to SHGs while 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses were under different stages of construction.
He alleged that the previous BRS government had neglected the interests of unemployed youth who played a key role in the separate statehood movement. “Members of his (KCR’s) family were however offered plum posts,” he said.
The Congress Government had set a sort of record in the country by giving jobs to 55,163 deserving youth within one year of taking over the reins while over 22,000 teachers were promoted and transfer requests of 35,000 more were conceded.
