A police officer involved in a raid which led to the shooting death of Breonna Taylor in Louisville, Kentucky, in March 2020 is to be tried in court this week.
Brett Hankison is the only officer of three in the incident who was charged with a crime, though his charges are not related to Taylor's death: He faces three counts of wanton endangerment after allegedly shooting blindly into an occupied apartment next door to Taylor's. Hankison has pleaded not guilty.
The trial had to be pushed back from spring of 2021 because of a case backlog caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
