Breece Hall ‘motivated’ for prove-it year with Jets using possible ‘best trio’ in ground game

Breece Hall called his 2024 campaign a down year, a frustrating season in which he took a significant amount of criticism.
Unlike fellow young Jets stars Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson, he didn’t receive a contract extension from new general manager Darren Mougey.
All those factors have given him an edge for his fourth NFL season.
“I’ve been motivated since the whole offseason. If you ask guys around here, coaches, whatever the case may be, my motto is, ‘I’m trying to be one of the first guys in, one of the last guys out,’” Hall said after practice Friday, ahead of the regular-season opener against the Steelers on Sunday. “I’ve been motivated in practice every day, trying to show these coaches why I deserve to be here and show them who I really am.”

Cade Cunningham, almost inarguably the best player in the East this season, is likely out for the remainder of the regular season. That’s the word out of Detroit following the depressing news that Cunningham punctured a lung when he took a knee to his side Tuesday from Washington’s Tre Johnson while chasing a loose ball.

Wednesday was another positive day at Yankees camp. For the first time since March 6, 2025 — an outing in which he knew “something wasn’t right,” which began a weeks-long saga that ended on the operating table for Tommy John surgery — Gerrit Cole was back on a mound and facing hitters in game action.
