Bombay HC grants Nawab Malik 6 weeks to reply to Rs 1000,00,00,000 defamation suit

Bombay HC grants Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Nawab Malik and seven others six weeks' time to file their reply in Rs 1000 Crore defamation suit.

The Bombay High Court on Monday granted six weeks' time to Maharashtra cabinet minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik and seven others to file their reply in Rs 1000 Crore defamation suit filed by Mumbai District Central Co-operative Bank.

The bank, represented by advocate Akhilesh Chaubey told the court that between July 1 and 4, a number of defamatory hoardings containing "baseless, shocking and defamatory statements against the bank, were put up at busy intersections in Mumbai, viewed by lakhs of Mumbaites". The bank claimed that these hoardings have "seriously jeopardized their reputation."
