More than 4,000 people in the US died of Covid-19 on January 20, the day Biden was sworn in as President. In the seven days running up to inauguration, the US was averaging more than 3,000 deaths a day. To confront the devastating toll of the pandemic, the Biden administration made access to the Covid-19 vaccine a top priority. As of Thursday, 44.7% of all Americans have received at least one dose and 32.3% are fully vaccinated.
