Citing threat of attacks from ISIL, US President Joe Biden says ‘a lot could still go wrong’ at Kabul airport.
Joe Biden, the president of the United States, has pledged his “unwavering commitment” to get US citizens and those Afghans whose security cannot be guaranteed out of Taliban-controlled Afghanistan but warned of hurdles ahead, including the threat of an attack from the ISIL (ISIS) group. “Let me be clear, the evacuation of thousands from Kabul is going to be hard and painful” and would have been “no matter when it began,” Biden said in a briefing at the White House on Sunday. “We have a long way to go and a lot could still go wrong,” the US leader said, citing the threat of an attack from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant- Khorasan Province (ISKP) in particular.More Related News
