President Joe Biden held a belated Labor Day celebration at the White House on Wednesday as he made the case for his large-scale economic agenda and how it would benefit working and middle-class families at an event honoring labor unions.
"We're the only country in the world that goes into a crisis and when we come out of it we're stronger than we were before we went in it. That's by building back better," Biden said, referencing the slogan for his economic agenda and twin infrastructure proposals currently making their way through Congress. He continued: "We're going to build back better. We have to, we must, we will. Because that's who we are. That's what America is."
The two men killed as they floated holding onto their capsized boat in a secondary strike against a suspected drug vessel in early September did not appear to have radio or other communications devices, the top military official overseeing the strike told lawmakers on Thursday, according to two sources with direct knowledge of his congressional briefings.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth risked compromising sensitive military information that could have endangered US troops through his use of Signal to discuss attack plans, a Pentagon watchdog said in an unclassified report released Thursday. It also details how Hegseth declined to cooperate with the probe.
