Biden Names Lina Khan, a Big-Tech Critic, as F.T.C. Chair

Ms. Khan, who first attracted notice as a critic of Amazon, was confirmed by the Senate as a commissioner on the agency on Tuesday.
President Biden has named Lina Khan, a prominent critic of Big Tech, as the chairwoman of the Federal Trade Commission, two people with knowledge of the decision said on Tuesday, a move that signals that the agency is likely to crack down further on the industry’s giants. Earlier in the day, the Senate voted across party lines, 69 to 28, to confirm Ms. Khan to a seat at the agency. The president may name any commissioner as the chair of the agency, which investigates antitrust violations, deceptive trade practices and data privacy lapses in Silicon Valley and throughout corporate America. Ms. Khan, 32, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.More Related News
