Biden claims ‘serious progress’ on getting prices close to pre-pandemic levels, amid high inflation

President Biden claimed that prices were approaching pre-pandemic levels, but data shows gas and grocery prices still far above where they were in early 2020.
"Gas prices are continuing to go down. And because are going down, we're making serious progress on getting prices close to what they were before the pandemic," Biden said Wednesday. "The most common price right now in America is three dollars and thirty-nine cents a gallon." Anders Hagstrom is a reporter with Fox News Digital covering national politics.
The AAA places the national gas price average at $3.76 per gallon, however. Gas prices in February 2020, just prior to the pandemic, were at $2.51 per gallon, a far cry from today's rate. Anders worked as a White House correspondent for the Daily Caller before joining Fox News Digital in 2022. There, he covered the opening months of former President Donald Trump's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the fallout of the 2020 election.
Since joining Fox, he has covered national politics extensively, including the 2022 midterm elections and President Biden's efforts to counter global adversaries like Russia and China.
