A delegation of BJP leaders called on West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and sought government jobs for the victims of post-poll violence in the state.
West Bengal BJP leaders called on Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday, May 10, and sought speedy trial of the cases involving post-poll violence in the state. The BJP leaders were accompanied by the family members of the victims of post-poll violence in West Bengal.
The delegation also sought government jobs for the victims of the violence that erupted in West Bengal following the declaration of the result of the state Assembly election in 2021.
On Tuesday, a delegation of BJP leaders including Suvendu Adhikari and Sukanta Majumder took the families of the victims to the Bengal Governor.
Last month, a delegation of ten advocates, who are part of an association named 'Lawyers for Justice', called on President Ram Nath Kovind on April 29 to demand justice for the victims of post-poll violence in West Bengal last year.
According to the association, cases involving violence, looting, arson, rapes, and murder in West Bengal are constantly being transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as "the Calcutta High Court has no faith in the West Bengal administration and the state police."
Speaking to India Today, a victim from Central Bengal said that he wanted harshest punishment for the ones who participated in such grievous crimes.
"On 2nd May, my father, Uttam Ghosh, was attacked and killed by people of TMC's booth sabhapati. Eight people were arrested. I want them to be hanged," said Bikram Ghosh.
