A 42-year-old woman is facing charges after allegedly driving drunk with a child in the vehicle, said Barrie police.
Officers were called to the Park Place shopping centre on Wednesday around 6:30 p.m. for reports of a driver who had allegedly hit several protective pillars outside an indoor play facility, said a news release from Barrie police.
Residents who called police said the driver had nearly gone into the building's main entrance.
While the woman allegedly attempted to leave the area, police said the vehicle stopped nearby due to significant damage from the crash.
Officers at the scene conducted tests and found the woman from Barrie was three times over the legal alcohol limit.
She's facing three charges for operation while impaired, operation while impaired with a blood alcohol level over 80 and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
Police said the woman's five-year-old child was in the vehicle at the time, but there were no reported injuries. They said a family member picked up the child at the scene.
The woman has been released with a future court date, said police.
