The former City and Valencia man has signed on till 2027
FC Barcelona officially announced the signing of Manchester City attacker Ferran Torres on Tuesday with the Spanish international penning a contract until June 30, 2027. The former City and Valencia man is looked at as one of the top young talents in the world but has dealt with injuries this season at City, derailing his campaign after a promising start. He becomes Barcelona's first major, significant signing since the departure of Lionel Messi over the summer.
Ferran has a buyout clause set at one billion euros. He will be unveiled on Monday, January 3. The 21-year-old winger, who has also played as a false nine, became a top young player at his boyhood club Valencia, helping them win the Copa del Rey in 2019-20, beating Barca in the final. He moved to City after the season and scored 11 goals in his first season before having four appearances and two goals to start his second season.
At Barca, he figures to be used in a versatile role of both on the wing and as a false nine. With Barca lacking talent at the striker position, often playing non-traditional forwards there like Memphis Depay, don't be surprised if that is where the bulk of his minutes come.
