DOHA: Zakat Affairs Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs provided assistance worth QR12,435,764 to 500 to needy families in Qatar.

Head of the Zakat Disbursements Department Mohammed Hassan Al Tamimi said that the Zakat Affairs Department is keen to deliver the Zakat funds paid by individuals and companies to the department to the actual beneficiaries from the families registered with it inside Qatar at a rate of 100%, in accordance with the controls, legitimate banks and approved mechanisms.

Al Tamimi said that the assistance provided by the Department is of two types: periodic assistance, which is assistance provided to families on a monthly basis to help them meet their needs for food, and housing which amounted QR7,140,497 in July.

He said that lump-sum assistance, which is provided to families once according to need, and its value amounted to QR5,295,267, and all of these are assistance disbursed by the Zakat Affairs Department to needy families.

The head of the Zakat Disbursements Department aid that the Department provides those entitled to the assistance application service through the website (www.zakat.gov.qa), indicating that applicants for assistance must provide all the required documents and upload them to their designated places on the site. He added that individuals and companies can perform their obligatory Zakat through the Zakat Affairs Department application on smart devices.
