Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Department of Mosques, honoured the top winners of the fourth edition of the “Bilal Al-Asr” competition along with the participating entities, during a ceremony held at Sheikh Hamad Jassim bin Jabr Al Thani Mosque in the Pearl district.

Organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, this year’s competition saw 50 Qatari high school students advance to the second stage, from which 20 students qualified for the final round. During the closing ceremony, Assistant Undersecretary for Dawah and Mosques Affairs Mohammed bin Hamad Al-Kuwari honoured the top ten finalists in the presence of ministry officials, school representatives, and parents.

In his remarks, Mohammed bin Abdul Latif Al Mahmoud, Assistant Director of the Department of Mosques, congratulated all winners and participants, highlighting the noble character of the revered Companion Bilal ibn Rabah and encouraging students to follow his example. He emphasized that the competition aims to strengthen moral and religious values among youth by introducing them to the inspiring lives of the Prophet’s Companions. He also thanked the Ministry of Education for its strong partnership, which contributed to the competition’s success.

From the Ministry of Education, Nasser bin Saleh Al-Marri, Head of the Sharia Sciences Section in the Educational Guidance Department, praised the collaboration between the two ministries and commended the competition’s role in shaping students’ character. He urged students to emulate the ethics of the Companions and to channel this inspiration into serving their communities, including through future roles in delivering the adhan and leading prayers.

The event included a live adhan performance by one of the students, adding a heartfelt atmosphere and showcasing the participants’ vocal abilities. Afterwards, the winning students and the 20 participating schools were awarded certificates of appreciation.
