'Autocratic tactics': Chandrababu Naidu slams Jagan govt over sedition case on rebel YSRCP MP

Ex-Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu said the sedition case was a part of the state government's "autocratic tactics to silence all dissenting voices in the state".

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday slammed the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government for 'ill treating' its rebel Lok Sabha MP K Raghurama Krishna Raju by booking him under a "false sedition case". Naidu said the sedition case was a part of the state government's "autocratic tactics to silence all dissenting voices in the state". The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of the Andhra Pradesh Police last week arrested Raju on charges of sedition. The CID had said the Narasapur MP had been "indulging in hate speeches against certain communities and promoting disaffection against the government". However, Raju was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Friday. "It was a disgrace to the YS Jagan Reddy rule. The SC had said it was believing prima facie that Raju was ill-treated while in the custody of the AP CID. At one time during his arrest, Raju's family members were afraid that he might be killed overnight in the Guntur jail," Chandrababu Naidu said.
